The annual Gem & Jam Festival is celebrating their 13th year in 2020. The festival which is known for hosting big and small names in the jam and electronic music scene is not like every other festival. For one thing it is held each year during the world-renowned Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase which draws unique crowds from all over the country. This will be our first year at Gem & Jam and we wanted to get the scoop from someone who previously attended the fest. Here is what we learned.
- The Set up. The festival is a good size and hosts huge gems at each stage to set the vibe.
- The weather. The weather can be crazy. It can be hot, cold, and in between so pack for everything!
- The Crowds. The crowd is easy to navigate and it’s never too crowded to get a good spot for your favorite artist.
- The vibe. The people that attend are a pretty mixed lot : east coast dead heads, Arizona jam lovers, and west coast desert bass aficionados. Many different Gem & Jam lovers all come together for the festival.
This years lineup includes many names such as Big Gigantic, Billy Strings and Twiddle to name a few (Check out full lineup below). We are especially looking forward to the Gem & Jam Grateful Dead Tribute set featuring Eric Krasno, Michael Travis, Jason Hann, Mihali, Reed Mathis and Todd Stoops.
